When Moby meets Morganistik

Morganistik says: a few years ago I received an email from a girl who told me I should check someone’s photos as we do the same photos. My 1st reaction was to not be very happy about that news as us, photographers, always hope that we have a unique style and that no one does the same thing as us.

By curiosity I went to check the pictures of that photographer and I was surprised to discover that at several years appart, we took the same picture of the same strange details around the world. The same thing happened with Moby.

I was browsing his pictures since a few years and several times I thought: I would have taken exactly the same picture! We have the same vision of the world, and anywhere on earth even if we never met, we will spot the same strange detail and take a picture of it.

Today I had the luck to meet Moby after a very intimate accoustic live at Colette Paris. I told him we were taking the same photos, so that surprised him. And I told him I wished he wasn’t that famous or we would go around to take pictures together. So Moby, if you ever read that (knowing that now you have my site card), my camera is always ready. If you don’t tweet where you are, I’m sure we can go around incognito.

Last thing: because of the photography connection, I was dreaming to meet him to get my own picture of him since 7 years. Never give up your dreams, if you really want them, they always come true. I’ll quote my favorite song by him “no one can stop us now, ’cause we are all made of stars”.

Fashion shows front rows for guests or photographers

Morganistik says: in a fashion show you are someone depending where you sit. You’ll find some front row differences and common points between the guests and the photographers of a show.

Front row guest= you are someone like a star, a journalist from the biggest magazines, big buyers and you usually get bags of gifts. Till the 3rd row it’s ok, you are still someone.

For the photographers podium it’s the exact opposite. If you’re a newbie photographer, you will be sitting in front and the more you go to the back, the more you have the experienced photographers who do that for 20 years. Like a class photo with the smallers in front, only here it’s a question of hierarchy.

The common point between those 2 types of front rows: there is always a sort of battle to be there. The late photographers will try to negociate a front row to settle down. And sometimes like last week, you will see a guest fighting so hard for her front row seat that she’ll end sitting on the knees of another guest, claiming it was her seat.

Don’t shoot the photographer

leave a comment

Morganistik says: with my friends photographers we have a game we play since years called “don’t shoot the photographer”. It’s a game we started when we were club or concert photographers that consist in taking pictures of each other while they don’t notice we shoot them.

But of course as photographers we see everything that’s happening around even if we don’t seem to look, so as soon as we spot a photographer shooting us, it usually makes us smile so we place quickly our hand or camera in front of our face to make him miss the picture.

So now if you’re out and see some photographers pointing their cameras discretely at other photographers, you’ll know they are playing at “Don’t shoot the photographer”

I couldn’t resist taking a picture of that vampire photographer I spotted at Paris Manga fair last year
