Morganistik says: I worked for Vogue in the past but tonight I was covering
Fashion Night Out in Paris for a clothes brand called Maje. FNO is an event once a year where anybody can enter the world of fashion and haute couture for one night. Basically you buy one issue of Vogue and you get the precious invite, easy. It happens in 17 countries and many designers, models, supermodels, journalists, socialites, bloggers, shoppers and random people who are not part of the fashion world can attend.
So, like all events as
photographer I had to go pick up my
all access badge. As thousands of people go to Fashion Night Out, this badge avoids you to queue at the entrance of the shops.
I had to meet someone at Dior to get my badge. I arrive at Dior, I introduce myself with my name Nadia Morganistik and the PR tells me: yes I do have your name but I gave your badge to someone else who came from Maje as they were 2 guys. Then she tells me but I do have a spare badge from Vogue… Meanwhile I try to call my manager at Maje to arrange things but she couldn’t hear my call with the DJs playing at Maje store. Stuck on that silly situation the girl from Dior tells me: oh I’m so sorry, I give you the Vogue all access :) and here I am going around FNO taking pictures with
“Staff Vogue” written on me.

Later during the night I spot someone with a Maje badge but no camera. So I go say: hello, do you work for Maje? And he says “errr yeah yeah I work for Maje” and I say: “oh me too! I believe maybe you took my all access badge earlier” and he tells me ah it’s you! And he shows me the friend carrying a badge “Nadia Morganistik”…

And the guy tells me: it’s not handy for me to enter everywhere with a girl’s name… So I tell him well, you shouldn’t have taken *my* badge for a start but instead of it I got a Vogue one that opened me way more doors as everybody believed I actually worked for Vogue :) And he asks me: can we exchange? I said: no way! But I’m going to take a picture of it and a picture of you wearing it.
You can’t imagine the attitude people have when they believe you work for Vogue. In fact I already experienced it when I worked for the fashion bible before and tonight again I noticed people put out the red carpet for you. Some designers PRs left their work place to make me a visit of their shops.
Maybe 20 people in the street came to me saying: hi, sorry to bother you, do you work for Vogue? Do you know how I can enter at Vogue? My girlfriend is a photographer, how can she enter at Vogue? Do you have a contact of someone at Vogue for me? Do you know where is the secret Vogue party? Can I please take a picture with you?
My conclusion: thanks to the unknown dude who stole my badge, I spent an excellent Fashion Night Out in Paris wearing my Vogue badge, I got a few visit cards from PRs who jumped on me from the best fashion designers. So really: thank you. Oh and if you ever read this one day: if you want you can send me my badge with my name as I keep them as souvenir. There is a contact section on my blog where you can reach me.
PS: dear Vogue, I will work for you one day but I still have some skills and techniques to learn and master. Though I’m always available for your online version as you can see on my last coverage for you
