Morganistik says: Last week I was shooting the making of a movie directed by fashion designer Charlie le Mindu. During a break I went outside and saw a few crazy jumps happen in front of me. It was Jonathan Henry warming up before his scene. So I asked him if he could redo those jumps for a photo.
Jonathan is 24, model and actor, expert in Martial Arts. He’s one of those guys you see fighting in Kung Fu movies or in Nike TV spots. And you’d never believe they actually do those ultra fast moves until they do them in front of you.
Usually the models I meet tell me they had to cut their hair “for Calvin Klein” or why they had to bleach they eyebrows. But Jonathan told me he used to have long hair until he got selected to become a disciple in Quanzhou Shaolin Temple in China and that the monks shaved his head. After all, those fighters also have their own fashion codes.

Morganistik says: photography is basically to be at the right time at the right place. You can anticipate this or it can be some great luck. Just like that day in June at 4.26pm, I was walking in Barcelona at Montjuic neighborhood when I noticed the sun was right on top of the telecommunication tower also known as Torre Calatrava.
This 136 meters high tower was built in 1992 by the architect Santiago Calatrava to transmit the TV coverage of the olympic games. It’s representing an athlete holding the olympic flame. And that day, it was holding the biggest flame in the universe.

Morganistik says: another fashion week is just over in Paris and after shooting the menswear and couture collections, a friend asked me: aren’t you distracted by seeing so many beautiful models?
As fashion week photographers, we see walking the most beautiful creatures on earth in front of us. But beauty is a subjective concept. And extreme beauty in the fashion world is the standard. So at some point it becomes our normality.
And sometimes something magic happens, like a few days ago when I was sitting in the photographer’s pit, watching the rehearsals of Yiqing Yin couture Spring Summer 2012. The venue was empty, the music starts, and this beauty appears: Russian model Svetlana Mukhina… Round doll face and concentrated face expression, her hair mixing perfectly with the dress, looking almost like a religious icon, it was one of those “wow” moments that made me really happy to be a runway photographer.

Morganistik says: Paris Fashion Week is just over and after sorting out my 8000 pictures, I noticed there is a girl I unconsciously really liked: Simona Andrejic (Elite model).
I saw her at several shows show I went to, and she has a sort of broken nose almost looking like a boxer. And if there is something we learned from models since the 90′s (think of Cindy Crawford’s trademark mole for example) it’s that what we sometimes take for a default, can in fact make us so unique, hence beautiful.
Simona looks good on runways, she looks good backstage and most important for me behind my camera: she always looks amazing on each pictures. I chose this profile photo of her backstage at Arzu Kaprol Spring/Summer 2012 show as she looks like an ancient Greek sculpture. Remember her name as she’s a supermodel of tomorrow.
